MOKUTI LODGE GUEST INFORMATION Dear guest, We would like to request every guest to read through this information book. It contains valuable information about facilities and services. ACCOUNTS: Accounts are payable on presentation of the bill, in cash or by credit card. During your stay you can sign dockets to your room account to pay these on the day of departure. We honour the following credit cards: Master card, Visa, Diners and American Express. Only NAMIBIAN BANK GUARANTEED CHEQUES will be accepted for payment. AIRCONDITIONING / CEILING FAN: Each room has its own air-conditioning unit, which is pre-set. Use the wall switch to operate. While the unit is on, please ensure that all windows and doors are kept closed. For health reasons it is advisable not to sleep with the unit operating. For this purpose we have installed a ceiling fan. Use the same wall switch to operate. Please ensure that these units are switched off when leaving the room. ALARM: A siren will sound. Please familiarise yourself with our emergency procedure behind the door and under point 12. AIR NAMIBIA: Air Namibia includes Mokuti Lodge in its scheduled flights. Please hand your ticket in at reception the day before. Your luggage will be collected in your room one hour before departure. 30 minutes before departure please be in the reception area, from where the shuttle to the airport departs. For further information please contact the Airport Manager or reception. ANIMALS: Please note that, with the exception of guide dogs, animals are not permitted. ACTIVITIES GAME DRIVES: Mokuti Lodge Safaris conducts daily drives into Etosha National Park. Mokuti Lodge Safaris offers various open vehicles on their scheduled or private drives. Vehicles for daily drives are allocated according to the amount of guests booked. All game drives are conducted by a guide and include the entrance fees and soft drinks consumed on the vehicles. Our guide will meet you at reception from where the game drive will depart. Summer Time Winter Time Morning drive 07h00 for four hours 06h30 for four hours Afternoon drive 15h00 for until sunset 14h00 for until sunset No children under the age of 12 are allowed on our scheduled drives. Arrangements for a private charter can be made. We would like to request that you be in time as other guests may also be on the drive and I would not like to have anybody inconvenienced. Please remember to bring a warm jersey or jacket along, as it might be chilly during the early or late hour. Should you be booked on a drive and would no longer like to participate we request that you cancel the drive at reception at least 12 hours before departure. Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact the Game Drive Operations Manager or reception. RULES AND REGULATIONS ON OUR OPEN VEHICLES: To give you the opportunity of enjoying a game drive on an open vehicle, we request you to please adhere strictly to the following safety rules as laid down by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism: - Watch your step when getting on or off the vehicle. - Please remain seated at all times. Standing up is only allowed for a brief moment when taking a photograph. - Sitting on the railing of the truck is strictly prohibited. - Please remain quiet when the vehicle stops at a water hole or for game viewing. At all times take your fellow game viewers and other vehicles into consideration. - The vehicle may not be disembarked at any time. - Rest rooms are available at Namutoni. When in this area indicate to your guide that you need to make use of this facility. WATER: The tap water in your room is safe to drink. However, bottled water is available at all bars. Water is a rare commodity in Namibia. Please turn off taps when not in use. INDEMNITY: I have noted that my stay at Namib Sun Hotels (a division of WUM Properties) is subject to the following conditions and that I have bound myself as follows: 1. That I shall pay my account in full cash at any time when requested by the lodge management or upon departure as a result of whatever cause. 2. That I shall at all times be and remain liable for payment of an account incurred by me, whether or not any other person (Legal or Natural) has made prior arrangements or undertakings to pay such account. 3. That I may at any time, at the sole discretion of the management and without disclosure of reasons be removed from the premises which will effect my undertakings above. 4. That I consent there to that all my property on the premises is and shall be subject to the lien of this Namib Sun Hotels. 5. I hereby agree that it is a condition of my occupation of the lodge premises that the owner shall not be responsible for the loss or damage to myself and to my property or person brought by me upon the premises, whether arising from the fire, theft or from any other cause and by whomsoever caused or arising from the negligence (groos or otherwise) or wrongful act of any person in the employ of the owner. 6. That interest of 2% per month, or part thereof, will be charged if this account is not paid in full on or before 30 days after the date of invoice. I, whether or not I occupy rooms on the lodge premises, am deemed to have contracted with the owner on this basis. TOWELS: Towel on the floor means: "Please exchange" Towel back on the rail means: "I will use it again" Pool towels are available at the pool, please do not use the towels from your room. Loss or damage to the articles will be charged to your account. SWIMMING POOLS: Swimming is at your own risk. Pool towels are avialable at the pool, please do not use the towels from your room. SAFES: There is an electronic safe available in the cupboard of your room. How to program it: 1. Press the red button behind the door 2. You will hear a short beep 3. The yellow light will illuminate 4. Enter a code, using 3 to 4 digits from 0 to 9. 5. Then press key (A) to confirm this To close the door: Turn the knob anticlockwise to lock the door How to open the door: Press your programmed code, then press key (A). The green light illuminates, while the green light is illuminated, turn the key clockwise to open the door. SPRINKLER SYSTEM: An electronic sprinkler system waters our lawns. We therefore request that you leave no belongings outside. STATIONERY: This is provided in the dressing table drawer in your room, should you require more please contact reception. TIPPING: If the service you received was exceptional, a gratuity may be in order. As a guideline, an amount of N$ 5.00 per guest per day is suggested, to be shared communally amongst the staff. There is a gratuity box at reception with a book to be filled in that money was received. TEA / COFFEE: Your room is equipped with a kettle, cups, coffee, tea, milk and sugar. TISSUES: A box of tissues is available in the drawer of your dressing table. PERSONAL SECURITY: The lodge cannot accept any responsibility for the loss of valuables left in the room. We provide a safe in the cupboard of your room free of charge and recommend that you make use of this facility. In the local dialect, "Mokuti" means in the bush, and it is the Etosha bush that we have to share with not only fascinating giraffes, charming tree squirrels or the most beautiful birds, but also with animals like snakes and scorpions. Especially during our rainy season (November until April), when also the nights are pleasantly warm, there is always the chance of meeting a snake or scorpion in the wild. We therefore urge you to keep the door to your room closed at all times and to use the marked pathways only. Also, please make sure you wear the right shoes, or even boots, when walking on our walk trails through the bush. Outside these hours a small snack menu is available until 17h00. Lunch Packs: Breakfast packs or Lunch packs can be ordered at the restaurant or reception the evening before, should you wish to spent the day in Etosha. Dinner: 18h30 - 22h00 18h00 - 21h00 Alternative Buffets inside the restaurant or a Boma at our outside venue. Room Service: The menu is on the table of your sitting area. Meals service available from 08h00 - 21h00 Drinks service is available throughout the night. LAUNDRY: Please complete the laundry list in duplicate. Laundry will be collected while the room is being serviced and returned the same evening. WE DO NOT HAVE DRY CLEANING FACILITIES. Valet service is available until 21h00, please contact reception. A price list is available in your cupboard. Please note that this service is available at your own risk. LOST AND FOUND: If you misplace any item or belonging, please inform us immediately. Any items found and handed in to us will be carefully stored at housekeeping for a limited period. LUGGAGE ASSISTANCE: If you require a porter to assist you with you luggage, please contact Reception at 9. MAIL / POSTCARDS: A post box is available at the front door when entering the lodge. Also will reception gladly accept any mail for posting. Mail is sent to Tsumeb every Tuesday and Friday. MESSAGES: If you are expecting a visitor or telephone call whilst you are out, kindly inform reception. Should a message be left while you are out, a copy will be placed with your key at reception. MAINTENANCE: Should anything not be working and you would like this to be looked at, please dial 9 or contact reception. Could the fault be fixed the following day please complete the maintenance slip provided and hand this in at Reception. MOSQUITO NET: Please do not place the mosquito net over or inside the lampshade, as this damages the net and could be a fire hazard. MINI BAR: A mini bar request form is available. Should you require your bar fridge to be stocked, please complete the list and hand this in at reception or dial 9 for collection. Please select and mention the quantity you need on the list. All the items selected by you will be charged to your account. Your mini bar will then be filled as soon as possible between 08h00 and 18h00. ETOSHA ENTRANCE PERMITS: Should you wish to drive with your own vehicle to the Etosha National Park an entrance permit is in your dressing table together with lodge stationery. Please feel free to fill in this permit before leaving. You will still have to register at the Von Lindequist gate as well as the Namutoni office to pay a daily fee. FORGEIN EXCHANGE: Certain currencies can be exchanged at Reception. GUEST QUESTIONAIRE: Guest satisfaction is our most important objective - Help us serve you better. Please spend a few moments to complete our guest questionaire which will help us to ensure that Mokuti Lodge lives up to the standard of "unbeatable value". Please feel free to share with us any ideas you might have which could improve the experience of Mokuti Lodge. GUEST AMENITIES: A decision was made to become more environmental friendly with our guest amenities and have opted for the all-in-one-soap and shampoo in the shower and or bath. Soap is at your wash basin. HAIR DRYER: For your convenience we have included a hair dryer in the dressing table drawer. INSECT REPELLENT / SPRAY: Insect repellent is provided on your dressing table in your room, feel free to make use of this. Insect spray can be obtained at reception. KEYS: Please leave your room key at reception when you leave the lodge premises and on your day of departure. CHECK-OUT TIME / DEPARTURE: Guests are kindly requested to vacate their rooms by 10h00. Please contact reception, should you wish to check out later. We shall gladly assist with the storage of luggage and if available, provide a room for day use for which an additional charge will be levied. DENTIST / DOCTOR: There is no dentist or doctor nearby. In the event of an emergency, arrangements will be made with the hospital in Tsumeb. Dial extension 9 for assistance. DUTY MANAGER: There is a Manager on duty to assist with any requirements you may have. The duty manager can be contacted through reception. DO NOT DISTURB: Feel free to make use of the card provided, by hanging it on the outside of your bedroom door should you wish to not be disturbed. Please note that if the ''Do not disturb" sign is left on the outside of the door the entire day housekeeping will not make up your room. EMERGENCY PROCEDURE: Refer to the safety instructions behind the door of your room. Namib Sun Hotels kindly asks their guests to adhere at all times to the following rules and regulations for their own safety: Make sure you know where fire escapes, staircases and fire extinguishers are situated and how you can reach them if you are in your room, in the bar, restaurant or elsewhere. Ensure you know the telephone number of reception - dial 9. In the unlikely case of a fire: PLEASE STAY CALM Advise the receptionist of the location of the fire. Should it be necessary for you to leave your room, go immediately to the nearest exit and leave the building directly to proceed to the assembly point.
