Island Safaris and Island Safari Lodge have throughout their existence been known for their Mokoro Trips with the Overland and South African Self Drive Market. Island also did Safaris and Boat and Fishing Trips. During the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Island was hit badly by some expensive business investments and changes in the market strategy. We believe that due to it’s fantastic location, area set aside for a 113ha Game Reserve, and a great deal of revitalisation, Island is still one of Maun’s prime locations with excellent value for money and fine
service. Island is back on track and looking better than ever before.
Location: 12 km to the North of Maun Airport. 10 km Paved Road and 2 km Dirt Road.
Setup: Chalets 12 Thatched Chalets with Air-conditioners and TV. 3 of these with Double Beds, 9 with twin ¾ beds. 2 of these with wheelchair accessibility. Rooms 4 Rooms, during the season these will be converted to Family Rooms. This is currently underway.
Facilities Lodge Bar, Dining Room, Reception, Swimming Pool, Jungle Gym, Kids Most Welcome Campsite 15 sites available, some with power points and lights. The campsite will be upgraded during the next 12 months to accommodate Prestige Camping. Tent Rental Not currently available but some sites will be equipped already set up with tents for rent. Prestige Camping Not available yet, but each of these sites will have its own ablutions, cooking area, light and plug point.
Activities: All Ground and Water activities are booked through Wild Attractions. Mokoro Day and Overnight Trips
Day Trips to Moremi and Leroo-La-Tau. Fishing Expeditions to the Okavango. Mobile Safaris throughout Botswana. Scenic Flights through Mack Air. Helicopter Flights through Okavango Helicopters. Game Reserve use for bird walks by yourself or guided by request and cycle route with
bicycles hired at reception.
