Protea Hotel is located in Bathurst, Eastern Cape in South
home to the worlds' biggest Pineapple and South Africa`s oldest licensed pub,
is only 10 minutes' drive from Port Alfred and midway between Port Elizabeth
and East London. The Protea Hotel Bathurst offers 16 luxury en-suite rooms and
a 3-bedroom GUEST cottage, all accommodating 40+ people in shared
accommodation. Facilities include a restaurant, bar and lounge, while various
sporting and leisure activities are available, with modern conference
facilities amidst the pineapple plantations for 10 to 60 persons.
Hotel Location: Situated in the village of Bathurst on the Sunshine Coast, a scenic 40km from Grahamstown or 10km from Port Alfred. Halfway between Port Elizabeth and East London on the R72 and halfway between Cape Town and Durban.

Follow N2 towards Grahamstown.
Take the R72 to Port Alfred, driving through towards East London.
On leaving Port Alfred, turn left at the "Grahamstown/Bathurst" road sign.
The hotel is situated 10km along the road, on the left hand side.
Turn left at the big pineapple.

Hotel Rooms: Accommodation comprises 8 standard rooms, 3 suites (with 1 kingsize and 2 twins), as well as 5 family rooms (with 2 twin beds and 1 double bed).

Attractions: Attractions in the area include stunning beaches and warm
oceans, a full variety of water sports (including world class surfing and
sailing), quality golf courses, historical trails, a variety of Eco-walks and
attractions, many annual festivals and welcoming locals. Less than an hour
from the coast, one is able to view the Big Five in a malaria-free area which
boats a unique bio-diversity, or ramble through the agricultural valleys to
sample their hospitality and local fare. Tours and safaris to various game
farms can be arranged.
Hotel Facilities: The Packshed Restaurant, open from 07h00 till midnight, offers a range of delectable meals, while the Porcupine Bar serves drinks, sundowners and welcome refreshments in a cosy atmosphere from 10h00 to 24h00.
Conference facilities: Two conference rooms are available, seating up to 60 delegates on conference of 100 GUESTS for a banquet.

Subject to availability of suitable accommodation, children 12 years and under (maximum 2) sharing a bedroom with two adults stay and eat breakfast free unless otherwise indicated on the rates schedule.
