The Manderson Hotel
Stutterheim |
Situated at the base of the Amatola Mountains, with the most breathtaking view
of the Kologha Forest, The Manderson is a Three Star Retreat Hotel and
Conference Centre. Located 7 kms from the rural but dynamic town of
Stutterheim, this is an ideal location for business travellers, weekend
getaways and a perfect stop over for the international visitor. Set in
beautiful gardens this Country Retreat hotel is the perfect venue for small
weddings or functions, with friendly and efficient staff to see to all your
needs. The specially built 56m2 Conference Centre was completed in March 2001
and is fully air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter. The Conference
Centre can accommodate up to 50 persons depending on seating arrangements.
Facilities include flipcharts and overhead projector, television, video
and DVD players, telephone and Internet connection. We also provide
administrative backup including fax machine, copier and secretarial services.
For your comfort and convenience, the Conference Centre has overhead
fluorescent lighting and wall lighting, 4 double sets of electric outlets with
extension cables and its own toilet facilities.
The Hotel facilities include 18 Deluxe Hotel Rooms, Junior suites and a
One Bedroom Cottage. Winding pathways lead guests to the majority of the rooms
and suites that are located in magnificent gardens. All accommodation includes
individual bathrooms with separate bath and walk-in shower, coffee and tea
maker, satellite television, direct dial telephone, wall heaters and electric
blankets. All outside rooms also have their own private patios. The wooden
deck and veranda overlook the swimming pool and have a magnificent view of the
mountains, a perfect place for a light meal or sundowners.
The comfortable and cosy lounge is used more in the colder winter months. It
boasts a large fireplace and is the perfect place to relax after an
invigorating walk in the nearby forest, or to curl up with a good book from
hotel's bookcase. Enjoy drinks before and after dinner with your friends while
planning the next day's activities.
Other services and amenities include laundry and valet services, box
lunches and picnic baskets, spouses programme for conference delegates, baby
cots and baby sitting, small playground, pets by arrangement, all credit cards
accepted and open and covered parking in a safe country setting.
Stutterheim offers a multitude of outdoor activities to suit all interests.
The thick indigenous forests include clearly marked walking trails, trails for
hiking and some of the best mountain biking available, horse riding for
beginners and the more experienced rider, and a peaceful picnic site.
Picturesque Gubu Dam provides a peaceful place for trout fishing, while
Wriggleswade Dam is the place for bass fishing, sailing and other water
sports. A myriad of bird life can be viewed in the area, from the mighty Fish
Eagle to the endangered Cape Parrot. Guided birding walks are also available.
The Stutterheim Country Club hosts one of the finest rural golf courses - a
nine hole reversible course, as well as tennis and squash facilities. Mgwali
Traditional Xhosa Village is only just over 30km from the Hotel, and King
William's Town with the Amatola Museum is about 35km away. The port City of
East London is just over 80km away with excellent beaches, museums and the
East London zoo.
