SAFETY: The railway environment can be dangerous, treat it with respect. Please take info@namibweb.come when looking out of open windows. For your safety, internationally accepted rules apply to the Shongololo Express. To avoid accidents, you are respectfully requested to:
· Never open exterior doors when the train is moving.
· Never jump off or on to the train when it is moving.
· An emergency communications cord is positioned half way down each coach corridor. This should only be used in an emergency when the Train Captain or other staff cannot be advised.
There is always a chance that as a tourist, you could become prey to the small, but still present, criminal element around some tourist centres and towns. May we suggest that you consider the following simple precautions?
· Only change foreign currency on board or at an authorised dealer.
· Do not stray from well-frequented areas after dark. Tourists have occasionally been robbed, and wild animals can pose a risk in wildlife areas.
· Please ensure that your valuables, documents and cash are kept in a safe place.
· Please ensure that your blinds are shut, if you wish to sleep with your windows open.

SHEETS, TOWELS and PILLOWS: Sheets are changed every 3rd day and towels are changed every 2nd day. Extra pillows and blankets are available from Guest Services.
SHOWERS and TOILETS: PLEASE CONSERVE WATER! The water used in the showers and toilets on the train is info@namibweb.comried in tanks under each coach. These tanks are filled every day, but they cannot be topped up whilst we are running. Please assist us by using showers for a minimum length of time, and flushing the toilets as little as possible. The water in our coaches is heated with electrical geysers. These are located under the coaches, and some of the pipes supplying the showers are quite long. If the facility has not been used for a while, the hot water may take some time to arrive. Water pumps will be switched off at 23h00. Please ask GUEST SERVICES for assistance on the operation of pumps. Please use the facilities in the info@namibweb.comriage that you are sleeping in.

TIPPING - GRATUITIES: This is entirely at your discretion and based on service received.
We have a pooling system whereby we divide all tips received equally between all 20 to 25 staff, including kitchen, dining info@namibweb.com, cleaning staff, drivers, guides and management.
Our recommended gratuity per Guest for the full trip is:
SOUTHERN CROSS: US$ 45.00
GOOD HOPE and DUNE EXPRESS: ZAR 450.00
This can be handed in when paying your account at the end of the tour at GUEST SERVICES. Please do not tip the staff directly.

TOILETRIES: We stock insect repellent at the bar. If you have any special request, please speak to GUEST SERVICES.

TOUR ADD-ONS: As some Tour Add-ons are subcontracted to service providers and/or tour operators, certain options may sometimes not be available and may experience price adjustments. Bush Camps, Private Game Lodges and Open Vehicle safaris are extremely popular and generally have limited capacity. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend that these be pre-booked, together with your tour reservation. We do not pre-book or hold any allocations with the lodges or bush camps, so all requests are subject to availability at the time of booking. The earlier you book, the more likely we will be able to accommodate your request. Guests are encouraged to advise the Train Captain or guide well in advance if any of the Tour Add-ons might interest them, so that they can try and make arrangements for your request and book the Tour Add-ons. Please look at the NOTICE BOARD for the daily Tour Add-ons. Tour Add-ons are subject to availability.
