Accommodation Botswana

Xakanaxa Camp: on arrival in this area, campers should stop and sign in at the smart new wooden office of the camp's warden, which you'll find immediately next to Xakanaxa airstrip (GPS: XAKAIR). This is about 3.5 km southeast of the camps. If you arrive from North Gate, then you'll pass this on your right; if you're coming from Third Bridge or Maqwee (South Gate) then follow the signs to North Gate and watch for it on your left as you start to drive east. (Don't confuse this with a disused strip that's about 1km west of the new one.)

On the east side of Okuti Camp, the Xakanaxa Campsite is a marvellous place to stay. Here about eight vaguely marked sites blend into one long camping area, which stretches along this tip of the Mopane Tongue. Facilities are very limited, with very basic toilets and showers, plus water taps dotted around the sites, their knobs encased in huge slabs of concrete to protect them from the elephants who love such clean water.
However, as with Third Bridge, this is an area of particularly dense game, so always remain vigilant as you move about the campsite, making sure that you keep your eyes out for animals at all times.

Rates: on request. Park/daily/vehicle fees are not included in camping fees.
