Camping & Self-Catering |
Monteiro camping and Self-Catering offers visitors the
best of both worlds. It is situated 11 km south of Windhoek on the B1 tar
road and less than 15 minutes drive from the traffic circle to Rehoboth. It
lies in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature with wonderful views to the
nearby Auas Mountains. Opened in 2005, Monteiro offers guests a choice of
accommodation; 6 camp sites and 2 guest chalets. Each one of these campsites
has electric lights, running water, power points and braai (barbeque)
facilities, for which wood can be purchased.
All the camping places enjoy lovely, well-maintained, grassy locations. The
2 guest chalets are equipped with twin beds and two bunk beds with a double
bed in one of the chalets. So the sentence should read as follows: The 2
guest chalets are equipped with twin beds and two bunk beds with a double
bed in one of the chalets. These chalets have full, spacious en-suite
amenities with a bath shower in one room and shower only in the other room.
There are also a communal kitchen and hygienic ablution facilities, a fridge
and all the equipment needed to enjoy a self-catering stay. TV and private
braai facilities are also provided and a swimming pool for everybody to
enjoy.
Other services provided on request are laundry and the supply of picnic
packs. A well-prepared Monteiro breakfast or other meals (pre-ordered a day
in advance) can be enjoyed. At a small kiosk hosts sell ice cold cooldrinks,
chips, sweets and all other delicious bites. At Monteiro you can feel the
closeness of nature, and if fortunate enough, might spot a Kudu, Oryx or
Hartmann's Mountain Zebra. Bird watching is spectacular, but besides all this
hosts also offer guided walks onto the summit of the nearby Gross Hertzog
Mountain and 30 minute pony rides for children. You can also visit the only
railway tunnel in Namibia, and all the attractions of Windhoek which is just
moments away.
