Shakawe Lodge, established in June 1969, is situated 375 kms from Maun and 25 kms from Mohembo on the Botswana/Namibian border. Main activities include excellent birding, photography and riverine forest nature walks. Accommodation consists of 10 brick under thatch simple but roomy chalets with en-suite facilities and ceiling fan; there is a circular thatched boma used as a dining room, alongside a river-filled pond which attracts a large variety of birdlife, a licensed bar and small swimming pool overlooking the Okavango River.
