Popa Falls is a series of rapids, waterways and island on the Okavango River. When the river is low the highest visible drop is about 3m. There is a walking way into the middle of the river, after this you are free to scramble over the rocks in the middle of the river. At this point the channel is about 1 km wide with the river split into a series of channels making their ways thought the rocks. The adjacent accommodation is among the finest under NWR control in Namibia: comfortable, in good working order, cheap and very much in tune with the natural environment. The camp site is set among lovely grassed lawns, by the water edge. This is popular sport for travellers on the way to Botswana and a convenient stopping place when travelling between Kavango and East Caprivi.
