Surrounded in a magnificent landscape of red sand-dunes, which was deposited centuries or millennia ago, transported by wind from the Kalahari desert, between wide grassland and rough mountains, you find Rooisand Desert Ranch in the central region of Namibia at the edge of Namib desert. Just about 20 kilometers straight line from Rooisand, the famous Gamsberg - Namibia's Table Mountain. Through the "near-desert" location of Rooisand, rain times are much more harmless than in others regions of Namibia. Rooisand is located at the road C26, rather precisely on half way between Windhoek and Walvis Bay at the Atlantic ocean. From Windhoek, the distance to Rooisand is about 170 kilometers.
Leave the center of Windhoek on the C26 in western direction. Shortly after leaving Windhoek you cross the copper-mountain-pass and the farm Amani (to the left). After approximately 30 kilometers drive left and still follow the C26 in direction Walvis Bay/Gamsberg Pass. Rooisand is always reachable with small airplanes.

Rooisand Desert Ranch is located between Gamsberg - and Kuiseb passes. The farm territory includes about 12.000 ha.
Pool, Lapa und Bar. In the daytime open dining room, where a national and international meals are served, in the evening bar and meeting point of our guests and - on request - open air cinema with big screen projection and Dolby Surround sound installation. Technological equipment - like the generators - are moderately away from the guest rooms and doesn't disturb neither your stay nor your night time. There is a stand by satellite-connection, which is also - wireless - available in the guesthouse at the Rooisand Observatory. Still cell phone connection is available.

In the main-house of the Ranch, hosts offers 5 comfortable double rooms with bath and/or shower and WC, including all the comfort with mini-bar, cordless telephone and a beautiful view to our garden. Between the main house and a tennis courts, lies "Wigwam-house." Here we offer our Guests 4 comfortable single rooms, of course also with own bath and/or shower and WC, mini-bar and cordless phone. In a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometers from the main-farm, hosts  offer a completely and very comfortably furnished guest house with 2 double rooms, each with own bathroom, big living room, "high-tech" kitchen and sun terrace including a fire side. This guesthouse lies on the top of a mountain and from there our guests enjoy a really breathtaking view at the Rooisand landscape.

For a guests, who prefer to sleep in the tent or for those who are on the way with a camping vehicle, Rooisand offers an "outside" camp site, embedded in the magnificent landscape. The campsite has 5 generous separated places - completely plain levelled and stone-free - on sand, so that also tents can be positioned without any problems. Each separated place dispose own cold water connection, own barbeque grill and power supply (socket norm European and Namibian, Voltage: 220 volts of alternating current). Furthermore there are additionally sufficient WC's and showers (with hot and cool water) at disposal.
