The Vogelstrausskluft area stretches along the Fishriver-Canyon on the western edge of the Kalahari - the eastern farm border is marked by the middle of the riverbed. Its location in the centre of the south, close to the road from Lüderitz to Keetmanshoop (B4), makes it a perfect starting point to visit many of the most interesting sites in a days or short safari trip.

Today the Vogelstrausskluft again houses a native herd of more than 60 Kudu antelopes, that lives on the wide plains of the plateau. And the numbers of other species like Oryx, Springboks, Zebras and Baboons are also constantly increasing. They all are controlled by natural selection through a limited amount of feed and some native predators.

According to their preferences and abilities, the mammals are spread over all habitats on the farm area. Most of the game can be found on the grassy plains of the plateau or the Canyon Plains. Compared to other regions, life in the desert takes place in much smaller dimensions. Over thousands of years animals and plants adapted to the harsh conditions and developed miraculous qualities and behaviours.
